Diana Bracho en la cuarta edición del Festival “Letras en la Mar”
VIP: Diana te hemos visto participar en varias telenovelas y en teatro, pero no sabíamos de tu talento para la escritura, ¿Desde cuándo comenzaste a desarrollarlo?
Diana Bracho: Yo estudié Filosofía y letras inglesas, justo para ser escritora, y después me desvié por el camino del mal y me convertí en actriz (ríe). Abandoné las letras, pero no del todo, siempre he escrito mucho, pero nada he querido publicar todavía. Cuando recibí la invitación por parte de Hugo Gutiérrez a participar en este maravilloso festival y me dijo “Quiero que vayas a Letras en la Mar, y que vayas a leer”, yo acepté muy gustosa y le respondí que “Claro, a quién voy a leer, ¿no?” Y me contestó: “A nadie, a ti misma” y yo no me la creí en un principio, él ha sido quien me sacó del closet de la escritura.
VIP: ¿Cómo ha sido tu implicación en el mundo de las letras?
Diana Bracho: Me ha costado un poco de trabajo. En primera, el trabajo editorial es muy intenso y la actuación también. Son dos disciplinas que no son muy compatibles, porque ambas te demandan tiempo completo. Ninguna de las dos son como de “¡ay!, en mis ratos libres lo hago”, ¿me entiendes? Sino que ambas son de mucha entrega, bueno, por lo menos desde mi punto de vista. Sin embargo, sí tengo en mente publicar un libro, tengo mucho material, que debo depurar y clasificar para lograr hacerlo, porque si no se me va el tren, y ya no estoy en edad de estar inaugurando profesiones. (Se ríe).
VIP: ¿Cuál consideras que es el futuro de la poesía en nuestro país?
Diana Bracho: La poesía es un género difícil, porque se requiere de lectores atentos, es mucho más fácil la ficción, el reportaje, la literatura fácil. La poesía se encuentra precisamente en el rango más alto de la sofisticación del lenguaje, de la abstracción y por ello requiere de más esfuerzo. Desgraciadamente, en nuestro país la poesía no ha sido un género muy favorecido. Ahora que murió José Emilio Pacheco, se ha vendido como pan caliente su obra, aunque siempre fue muy popular, pasó igual en el aniversario de Octavio paz. No obstante, yo sí quisiera que los niños leyeran poesía, pero no de esa de “mamá soy paquito”; porque finalmente es lo que les enseñan a los niños en las escuelas. Yo creo que sería excelente que los acercaran a poemas accesibles, pero siempre de gran aliento poético y de un lenguaje más complejo; porque yo creo que si te toca entender la poesía desde que eres muy joven, te atrapa. Pero te tiene que tocar primero.
VIP: Gracias por tus atinadas respuestas Diana. ¿Te esperamos el próximo año en Vallarta?
Diana Bracho on the fourth edition of the Festival “Letras en la Mar”
The forth edition was concluded of the Festival “Letras en la Mar”, founded by the poet and writer Hugo Gutiérrez Vega, who in turn made the invitation to the well known and consolidated actress, Diana Bracho, to recite some poems of her own inspiration.
VIP: Diana we have seen you taking part in several soap operas and in theater, but we did not know of your talent for writing: Since when did you begin to develop it?
Diana Bracho: I studied philosophy and English literature, just to become a writer, and then I deviated to the path of evil and I became an actress (laughs). I gave up literature, but not completely, I have always written much but I did not want to publish yet. When I received the invitation to participate in this wonderful festival and Hugo Gutiérrez said «I want you go to Letras en la Mar, and read there”, I accepted enthusiastically, and replied «of course, who will I read to?» And he answered: «to no one, just to yourself» and I did not believe it in the beginning, he has been the one that pulled me out from the closet of writing.
VIP: How has it been your involvement in the world of literature?
Diana Bracho: it has cost me a bit of work. First, the editorial work is very intense and the acting too. There are two disciplines that are not very compatible, because both demand you full time. None of the two are like «well, I´ll do it in my spare time «, do you understand me? As both need great dedication, well, at least from my point of view. However, I do have in mind publishing a book, I have a lot of material, which I have to debug and qualify in order to achieve it, because I am no longer in age to be inaugurating professions. (She laughs).
VIP: What you think is the future of poetry in our country?
Diana Bracho: poetry is a difficult genre, because it requires attentive readers, easy literature fiction, and reportage are much easier. The poetry is located precisely in the highest rank of the sophistication of the language, the abstraction and therefore requires more effort. Unfortunately, in our country the poetry has not been a very favored genre. Now that Jose Emilio Pacheco died, his work has been sold like hot cakes, even though he was always very popular, the same happened on Octavio Paz´s anniversary. However, I would like to see if children read poetry, but not that of «mama i am paquito»; because finally is what they are taught to children in schools. I think that it would be excellent if the closer to poems accessible, but always a great encouragement and a poetic language more complex; because I think that if you tap understand poetry since you are very young, it catches you. But you have to touch first.
Diana Bracho: If they´ll invite me again, with great pleasure. I love this place and furthermore it is an inspiring place for writing, especially poetry.
