ING. ENRIQUE CAROTHERS BARRETO
Hombre afable, de mirada dulce y de carácter conciliador, Enrique Carothers tiene muy arraigado desde su niñez el gusto por ayudar a otros, que heredó de sus padres, lo mismo que su fuerte convicción católica. Se reconoce como un hombre de trabajo con gran visión, cualidades que emplea en su faceta de incansable luchador social, que lo ha llevado a formar diversas asociaciones filantrópicas y empresariales en las que se ha destacado su activa participación.
Nació en la ciudad de Guadalajara, Jalisco, el 19 de noviembre de 1939; es egresado de la carrera de Ingeniería Civil por la Universidad Autónoma del mismo estado y radica en Vallarta desde 1968, año en el que adquirió el hotel Playa Los Arcos. De tal suerte, Ingeniero de profesión y hotelero por convicción, es también hombre de una familia a la que adora: su esposa, Susana Herrera y sus tres hijos, Susana, Enrique y Maritza, quienes han constituido el soporte de motivación para conseguir sus metas.
Como buen triunfador, es reconocido por su sencillez y humildad, valores con los que se ganó la confianza y admiración de la sociedad vallartense, además de su amplia trayectoria profesional, como ingeniero, desarrolló varios proyectos, llevó a cabo la construcción del Hospital del Seguro Social en Casimiro Castillo, Jalisco; la del Hospital del Seguro Social en Tecomán, Colima y la remodelación del Hospital Guadalajara. Ha sido presidente, director y fundador de diversas empresas del sector turístico y hotelero, muchas de las cuales sentaron las bases del destino turístico que hoy es Vallarta. Se trata, en fin, de uno de los grandes personajes contemporáneos de la industria turística de nuestra comunidad, y así lo atestiguan distintos homenajes y galardones de los que ha sido acreedor, entre los que destacan el reconocimiento como empresario del año realizado por Coparmex, la presea Vallarta Opina, el Galardón de oro Ocho columnas, el reconocimiento “Amigo de Jalisco” otorgado por el Gobierno del estado y aquellos hechos por la Asociación Mexicana de Hoteles y Moteles.
En esta ocasión, el Ing. Carothers nuevamente es homenajeado con la develación de su busto, bronce del escultor Octavio González, en el parque Lázaro Cárdenas en honor a las contribuciones con las que, por más de 40 años, nos ha beneficiado. De esta forma damos fe, a propios y extraños, de nuestra gratitud a uno de los pilares de la hotelería de Vallarta y, de manera particular, de la llamada zona romántica, apuntalada incansablemente por este hombre íntegro, conciliador y bondadoso. La comunidad vallartense integrada por autoridades municipales y estatales, por el sector empresarial y destacados ciudadanos, le rendimos un merecido homenaje en vida, por su amorosa labor en pro de nuestra comunidad.

Affable man, with a sweet look and a conciliatory character, Enrique Carothers has very rooted in his childhood the pleasure of helping others, which he inherited from his parents, the same as its strong Catholic conviction. He is recognized as a man of work with great vision, qualities which he uses in his facet as a tireless social fighter, which has led him to form various philanthropic and business associations in which his active participation has been highlighted.
He was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, November 19th 1939; he is a Civil Engineering graduate, from the Universidad Autonoma, and lives in Vallarta since 1968, year in which he purchased the hotel Playa Los Arcos. Engineer by profession and hotelier by conviction, he is also a man who loves his family: his wife, Susana Herrera and his three sons, Susana, Enrique, and Maritza, who have been the support of motivation to achieve his goals.
As a good leader, he is known for his simplicity and humbleness, values that won the trust and admiration of Vallarta, in addition to his extensive professional career, as an engineer, he developed several projects, like the construction of the Social Security Hospital in Casimiro Castillo, Jalisco; the Social Security Hospital in Tecomán, Colima and the remodeling of the Guadalajara Hospital. He has been President, director and founder of several companies of the tourism and hospitality sector, many of which laid the foundations of the tourist destination which is now Vallarta. He is, in few words, one of the great contemporary figures of tourism in our community, evidenced by various tributes and awards, among which the recognition as entrepreneur of the year made by Coparmex, the Vallarta Opina medal, the Ocho Columnas Gold Award, «Friend of Jalisco» recognition, granted by the State Government and others by the Mexican Association of hotels and motels.
Mr. Carothers is once again honored with the unveiling of a bronze bust of his, by the sculptor Octavio Gonzalez, in the Lazaro Cardenas Park to honor the contributions with which, for more than 40 years, has benefited us. In this way we honor to everyone, our gratitude to one of the pillars of the hotel industry in Vallarta, and in particular for the so-called zona romantica, sustained tirelessly by this man of integrity, conciliator and kindhearted. The community of Vallarta integrated by municipal and state authorities, the business sector and prominent citizens, pay a well-deserved tribute in life, to his loving work toward our community.
